Farm Plan
My goal is to build a small, sustainable family farm that can grow over time while caring for the land responsibly. I would like to learn from experienced farmers and landowners while developing practical skills in crop production, livestock care, gardening, equipment maintenance, and general farm management. I am interested in growing vegetables, fruits, herbs, and other useful crops, while potentially raising chickens, goats, and other appropriate livestock as the farm develops. I want to use responsible farming practices, protect the soil and water, and maintain the property for future generations. My long-term goal is to make the farm productive enough to support my family while also contributing to the local community. I am committed to hard work, learning, and treating any land entrusted to me with respect.
Detailed Experience
I currently live on my grandparents’ 5½-acre property in Booneville, Arkansas, where I have gained hands-on experience caring for land and livestock. I have helped my grandmother with our home farm and have experience caring for livestock animals and handling the day-to-day responsibilities that come with maintaining a small farm. Although my experience has primarily been with a family/home farm rather than a commercial operation, it has given me an appreciation for the work, responsibility, and dedication that farming requires. I am still learning the business and financial side of farming, including planning, marketing, and managing a profitable operation, but I am eager to learn and develop those skills. I’m looking for an opportunity to build on the experience I already have and eventually become a successful, responsible land steward.
Education & Training
My farm education and training have primarily been hands-on and gained through helping my grandmother with our family home farm in Booneville, Arkansas. Living on my grandparents’ 5½-acre property has also given me practical experience with land care and livestock. I have learned through direct experience, observation, and working alongside family members who have experience caring for a small farm. I have not yet received formal agricultural or farm-business training, and I am still developing my knowledge of the financial and business side of farming. I am very willing to learn and would welcome mentorship, workshops, classes, and hands-on training in crop production, livestock management, farm planning, equipment, conservation, and agricultural business management.
